Immature Stages of Mecoptera
Detailed information on immature stages of Mecoptera is being
acquired. However, Clausen (1940)
noted that the larvae are eurciform and are found on or in the soil in damp
places. Those of Panorpa feed on dead or dying insects, but rarely if ever
on active living forms. Bittacus is mostly predaceous
on such insects and other small animals that are found in or on the moist
